2. Recognize and Assess Threats Early
Participants will develop the ability to identify behavioral warning signs, environmental vulnerabilities, and potential risks associated with workplace violence and active shooter scenarios.
3. Apply Effective Response Strategies Under Stress
Participants will demonstrate how to implement SHIELD-R principles—such as escape, lockdown, communication, and defense—through scenario-based decision-making exercises to improve real-time response and survivability.
The SHIELD-R Response Model™ is a structured, proactive approach to workplace violence prevention and critical incident response. It equips individuals and organizations with a clear framework to recognize threats early, take protective action, and respond effectively under stress. The model emphasizes situational awareness, environmental hardening, communication, and decisive action during emergencies. By breaking response into simple, actionable steps—ranging from awareness and prevention to escape, lockdown, defense, and recovery—it ensures employees can quickly adapt to evolving threats. Designed for real-world application, SHIELD-R bridges the gap between policy and action, empowering people to respond confidently while reducing risk, minimizing harm, and supporting post-incident recovery.
