Dr. Nicoll has extensive experience in a variety of process safety, environmental, and health and safety (EHS) programs, including chemical facilities, industrial manufacturers, nuclear facilities, research laboratories, oil and gas locations, and pharmaceutical facilities. Dr. Nicoll has conducted EHS audits, assisted with H&S program design and implementation, taught radiation safety training, completed EMF studies, developed PSM and RMP programs, conducted a variety of safety training modules, and assisted in many other EHS and process safety related endeavors. She is well-versed in regulatory compliance from both an environmental and H&S standpoint. She is also familiar with international regulations, including ICNIRP, WHO, and ISO standards. Dr. Nicoll has worked all over the United States as well as internationally for national and global clients.

This session will focus on some of the best and worst cases of process safety practices by giving specific but anonymous examples of successful and unsuccessful process safety programs.
• Study 1 – Failure of organization’s global process safety program, caused by micromanagement and authoritarianism.
• Study 2 – Success of organization’s global process safety program, which focused on auditable metrics, two-way communication, and positivity.
• Study 3 – Failure of a facility’s process safety program, where the facility focused on regulatory compliance to the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law.
• Study 4 – Life cycle of a facility’s process safety program, from failing to successful, including the challenges and roadblocks that they experienced along the way.
