Dr. Houshang Darabi is the Director of the Great Lakes Center for Occupational Health and Safety’s (GLC-OHS) Targeted Research Training program that focuses on applications of AI in OSH. In 2022, Dr. Darabi developed the first course in the United States to train OSH industry professionals in AI. Dr. Darabi has also established an innovative laboratory dedicated to the advancement, exploration, and testing of AI-driven technologies for the enhancement of OSH practices. Since 2005, Dr. Darabi has conducted numerous AI research and implementation projects and collaborated with many researchers nationally on the application of AI in healthcare, education, occupational safety, and public health

This session offers the most current information of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in occupational health and safety and its role in protecting worker health, safety and well-being. Participants can expect to learn what AI is, how it functions, and how it can be used to reduce the risk of common OSH hazards. No prior knowledge of AI or coding experience required.
